The 1888 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the 1888 college football season. The team compiled a 2–1 record and outscored its opponents by a combined score of 94 to 36. The captain of the 1888 team was James E. Duffy.

- ^ Raymond Walter Beach, born November 29, 1863, in Percival, Iowa, formed the Beach & Beach law firm in Chicago with his brother, Elmer Beach. He was also the brother of noted novelist Rex Beach.
- ^ Anson E. Hagle was born in approximately 1860 in Canada. He emigrated to the United States in 1879. At the time of the 1880 U.S. Census, he resided in Metamora, Michigan, with his father Mark Hagle; both were identified as farmers. He later became the coach of Albion College's first football team, a pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church and a prohibition party candidate for public office. At the time of the 1900 and 1910 Censuses, he resided in Albion, Michigan, and listed his occupation as a life insurance agent. In 1920, he lived in Evanston, Illinois, and identified himself as a commercial salesman. In 1930, he lived in Evanston and identified himself as a Bible salesman. He died in July 1942.
- ^ Lincoln MacMillan was born in Michigan in approximately 1865. He became a journalist and newspaper editor. He served in the early 1900s as the financial editor of the Chicago Record-Herald and, eventually, editor of the Chicago Daily News. He died on September 12, 1950 in St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.
- ^ Edgar Withrow MacPherran, born January 27, 1868 in Marquette, Michigan; died July 29, 1947 in St. Louis County, MN. After graduating from Michigan, he practiced law in Michigan Upper Peninsula and in Duluth, Minnesota. He married Alice "Mabel" Wilkinson, October 25, 1899.
